Installation

This guide walks you through installing the OneNoteToWiki app in your Confluence Cloud instance.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Step-by-Step: Installing OneNoteToWiki

  1. Open the Atlassian Marketplace

    • Navigate to your Confluence Cloud instance
    • In the top menu, go to Apps โ†’ Explore more apps
  2. Search for "OneNoteToWiki"

    • Use the search bar to find the OneNoteToWiki app
    • Click on the result to open the app detail page
  3. Click "Try it free"

    • Press the Try it free button to install the app in your site
    • Choose the site where the app should be installed (if you manage multiple instances)
    • The app will be installed within a few seconds
  4. Grant permissions

    • After installation, you'll be asked to authorize required permissions
    • These include access to Confluence content and the ability to act on behalf of the user (for page creation)
  5. Access the app's configuration page

    • After installation, go to Apps โ†’ OneNoteToWiki
    • You will be redirected to the administration settings page
    • This is where you can create and manage sync rules

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ผ Only Admins can create sync rules

Currently, only Confluence administrators can create and manage sync rules. These are configured exclusively via the administration interface, not through the frontend UI.

โœ‹ Regular users cannot yet authorize their Microsoft accounts or initiate personal syncs. This functionality is planned for a future release.

๐Ÿ” Required Permissions

To function properly, the app requires:

  • Access to create and update pages in Confluence on behalf of the admin user

  • Storage of sync configuration data (within your Confluence environment)

The app does not store your OneNote content directly โ€” it acts as a bridge between authorized Microsoft and Atlassian APIs.

๐Ÿงช Recommended: Install in a test space first

We strongly recommend testing the app in a dedicated Confluence space before using it in production. This helps you:

  • Understand how sync rules behave

  • Avoid clutter in your main spaces

  • Experiment safely without affecting live content
