Before You Start
What you'll need before using OneNoteToWiki
Before installing and using OneNoteToWiki, make sure the following prerequisites are in place:
✅ Microsoft Account Requirements
OneNoteToWiki syncs content from your Microsoft OneNote account. You’ll need:
-
A Microsoft 365 account (personal or work/school)
-
Access to the OneNote notebooks you want to sync
-
Permission to authorize the app to read your OneNote content
⚠️ If you're using a work/school account, your organization might require admin approval to connect external apps.
✅ Confluence Requirements
To install and use the app on Atlassian Confluence:
- You must be a Confluence administrator to install the app
- You must be a Confluence administrator to configure sync rules
- OneNoteToWiki currently supports Confluence Cloud
⚠️ Use with care: The app creates content automatically
OneNoteToWiki creates pages in Confluence based on your OneNote structure. If you connect a notebook with hundreds or thousands of sections/pages, the app may create a large number of Confluence pages automatically.
To avoid unintended bulk creation:
-
Test in a sandbox environment first
-
Use a dedicated test space in Confluence
-
Always assign a Parent Page in your sync rule settings
→ This groups all synced content under one page, so it’s easier to manage or delete
🧹 Note: Deleting an entire page tree in Confluence is only possible with apps like Page Tree Eraser from the Atlassian Marketplace. Without such tools, manual deletion can be time-consuming.
🕒 Syncing large notebooks takes time
Due to current limitations in both the Atlassian Forge APIs and the Microsoft Graph API, syncing large notebooks — especially during the initial sync — can take several hours or even days.
Please be patient and avoid triggering multiple syncs for the same notebook simultaneously.
